POST-PUNK POST-MUSIC POST-FASHION POST-CULTURE
Shine So Cold
After a 2016 premiere at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, screenings at select film and music festivals, and exclusive access for crowd-sourcing donors, Walking in the Opposite Direction is finally available for streaming to the general public.
Among the most respectful and engrossing music documentaries of the decade, interviews with Adrian Borland's close family (his late father, among others), friends, and collaborators narrate a deeply detailed story of the origins and accomplishments of Borland's creative genius and the heart-wrenching, gradual disintegration of his mental health. Long-time The Sound fans will be gripped by this insightful documentary while casual listeners of post-punk will appreciate the time-capsule aspect of the era covered herein. Viewers will find this piece empathetic and moving, reflecting on it for weeks or months to come.
Rent Walking in the Opposite Direction for only $5.50 USD. Directed by Marc Waltman and produced by Jean-Paul van Mierlo. More information is available on the film's facebook page.

Casual luxury retailer R13 has released various collections featuring prints from iconic post-punk, metal and rock bands in years past, but have really outdone themselves with a sizable selection of Depeche Mode gear for spring/summer 2018.
While the fabrications and cuts will differ from those of a standard band tee, the retail (i.e. wallet "violator") prices ranging from $225-$450 may still receive a collective eye roll. Then again, the prices aren't much higher than Depeche Mode's recent tour merchandise if we're being completely honest here. ![]() Matthew Lineham Art has launched a clever collection of Halloween-themed new wave and goth/post-punk window clings and pre-order t-shirts. Featuring Robert Smith of The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Peter Murphy of Bauhaus, Depeche Mode and Morrissey... In a pumpkin. Get all five window clings for $20. T-shirts are $22. Also check out the David Bowie (BOOwie) pennant for $20!
Post-punk prince charming, Adam Ant played an energetic, anthem-packed (25 anthems!) show at The Masonic in San Francisco Friday night, September 29, 2017. Timeless hits and Ant's age-defying appearance transported us right back to the years of the music's origins.
Adam Ant plays Los Angeles' Greek Theatre tonight to cap off the US tour.
The Target 2017 Halloween collection (i.e. Goth Ikea) has been progressively rolling out through September and appears to be near complete. We love it all, but maintain a bias toward anything that can be kept in a home year round. One can never have enough skull shaped food storage containers! Below, see some highlights from only $5, perfectly passable as elegant, humorous and/or edgy home decor. Free shipping on orders $35+.
